Summer in the Arena: David Gilmour, Renzo Arbore, Tony Cetinski…
This year again Summer in the Arena offers a variety of interesting programs, so you will surely find something for yourself. Each program is unique and special, just like the Pula Arena – a unique and exceptional setting.
The season opens on June 27 with the German-Austrian television show “Musikantenstadl”. A week later, on July 3, a benefit concert will be held in the amphitheater for the Feast of St. Thomas, patron saint of the City of Pula. Two days later, on Sunday, July 5, Theater “Komedija” from Zagreb presents the musical “Mamma Mia!”
The period between July 18-25 is reserved for the 62nd Pula Film Festival, and on July 31 the Arena hosts Dubioza kolektiv and S.A.R.S.
On August 4, Società Filarmonia from Udine performs Rossini’s opera “L’Italiana in Algeri”, and four days later, on August 8 is a special concert to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the iconic rock band Bijelo dugme. The world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra performs in the Arena on August 9, and on August 11, Tony Cetinski celebrates 25 years of his successful musical career.
The opening concert of Dimensions Festival will be held in the Arena on August 26 with eminent British producers/DJ’s Four Tet (Live) and Floating Points, as well as Swedish quartet Little Dragon, whose concert will be broadcast live through the world famous Internet project – Boiler Room.
The concert of former Pink Floyd singer and guitarist David Gilmour, which will be held in the Arena on September 12, was completely sold out in just a few minutes. There are also plenty of interesting programs in September, such as the opening concert of Outlook Festival on September 2, with hip hop legend Jurassic 5 and drum’n’bass icon Roni Size. Another interesting event will surely be the performance of the popular Italian musician and TV host Renzo Arbore with l’Orchestra Italiana on September 5.
